Fall for the Flavors of The Public House in Downtown Fullerton

(SoCal Locale was invited as a guest to try the seasonal menu and drink offerings at The Public House and share our thoughts.)

Downtown Fullerton is ripe with amazing bars and eateries, and one such gem is hidden inside an unsuspecting building off of Commonwealth Avenue.

The Public House is the restaurant and tasting room for the award-winning Evans Brewing Company. Executive Chef Matt Roman has curated an inventive gastropub menu full of fresh, seasonal ingredients to compliment the variety of craft brews that Evans Brewing Company offers.

With so many craft beer offerings, it’s hard to choose just one. The knowledgable staff can recommend your new favorite brew based on your preferences, or you might opt for a beer flight.

Their beer flights are fully customizable, and you can choose your own or ask a staff member to create a flight for you based on your tastes, or based on what will compliment your food best.

In addition to a wide variety of craft beer, they also offer creative craft beer cocktails, like the Hop Collins, made with Art of the Sage Gin, Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and Evans Brewing Company’s krHOPen IPA.

The bar at The Public House truly has something for every drinker, but their food shouldn’t be overlooked either. Executive Chef Matt Roman’s passion for food shines through in every single dish on the menu.

Chef Matt’s menu brings together amazing seasonal ingredients to create dishes bursting with flavor. From shareable selections like the Kale and Beet salad, Brick Oven Cauliflower, Duck Confit Poutine, and Fall Chicken Flatbread, to entrees that you’ll want all to yourself like the Grilled Black Angus Flat Iron Steak and Pollen Nation Braised Pork Shank; every dish is handcrafted to perfection.

Even the desserts are designed to pair well with the extensive bar menu. I highly recommend the Chocolate Espresso Budino (a type of pudding) which features (and pairs well with) Evan Brewing Company’s Chocolate Porter.

The Public House has that small, local Gastropub feel with welcoming and knowledgable staff led by General Manager Tom Dow. They feature local, live music Thursday through Saturdays, as well as some great Happy Hour deals. On Beer and a Brat Tuesdays, $10 gets you a house-made beer brat and a pint of Evans’ beer and on Whiskey Wednesdays, $12 gets you three selected whiskey and an Evans craft beer.
