19th Annual Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & 1K

The 19th Annual Reaching for the Cure Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Run returns to Orange County this March 26th, 2017 at Irvine Valley College!

The event honors pediatric cancer warriors, patients, and survivors everywhere, and brings runners, walkers, fundraisers, sponsors, vendors and volunteers from all over Southern California together in an effort to Reach for the Cure!

After the race, there’s a finish line festival – fun for the whole family! The festival features exhibitors, food and musical entertainment, and the PCRF’s famous Kids Zone with petting zoo, bounce houses, obstacle courses, video trucks, face painting, attractions and more!

Santa is Coming to Irvine Park Railroad! (Giveaway)

Christmastime is magical at Irvine Park Railroad! Starting nightly, November 27th through December 23rd, your favorite local railway transforms into a holiday wonderland!

Santa and Mrs. Claus

During this time, the train runs a little differently than normal. Instead of the usual round trip around the park, the Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train makes a special stop at the North Pole! (Regular train rides are available from 10:00am to 4:00pm.)

Tickets for the train ride must be purchased online in advance. Tickets are only valid on the day and time selected, so plan accordingly. Times begin at 4:00pm. Some days have already sold out. You can buy your Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train tickets here. (Note: If, after 4:00pm, all tickets have not sold out for the day, you may purchase the unsold tickets in person.)

Having Fun in the Coloring Corner

The Irvine Park Railroad Christmas Train is a very popular Orange County event. They recommend arriving as early as possible to ensure you don’t miss your ticket time. There are a variety of free activities for families to enjoy while waiting to board the train, such as the Christmas Coloring Corner, Story Time with Mrs. Claus, and Frosty’s Maze.

Carnival Games

There are also games, ice fishing, bounce houses, and cookie decorating activities that cost one activity ticket per person. Every child who plays a game wins, so no one walks away empty-handed.

The Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch is open at 10:00 am daily from September 19th through October 31st, closing at 5:00 pm on weekdays and 6:00 pm on weekends.

The parking fee for Irvine Regional Park is $3.00 per vehicle on weekdays and $5.00 per vehicle on weekends. As it gets closer to Halloween, plan to arrive early to help avoid crowds, particularly on the weekend!

The Pump and Dump Show: A Hilarious and Fun Night Out for Moms

The Pump and Dump: A Parentally Incorrect Comedy Show and Night Out for Once, is a wildly popular, nationally acclaimed moms night out evening, full of laughter, drinking, music, games, prizes (wine!), and parental commiseration. The show has been running in Denver, Colorado for almost 3 years, and started traveling the country in late 2013 to bring the fun to parents everywhere. Next month they are bringing it to Orange County for one night only!

Comedian/musician Shayna Ferm and her sidekick, MC Doula (aka Tracey Tee), host this raucous evening of comedy and music, designed for parents to laugh away a kid-filled day while throwing a few back and remembering who we all were before we had children. Live musical performances are spread throughout the evening with songs like “Eat Your F-ing Food,” and “When I Die, I Want to Come Back as a Dad.” Audience participation includes “Stump the Breeder” and “The Most F-ed Up Thing Your Kid Did This Week.”

In addition to being on their 2015 national tour of the Pump and Dump show, Shayna and Tracey are also twice-monthly contributors to TheBump.com, and have been featured in Parents Magazine, HuffPost Parents and Scary Mommy. The duo has three children under the age of five between the two of them, and to be honest, they probably need this night out as much as you do.

On the Friday after Thanksgiving you don’t have to go on a shopping marathon to burn off that extra piece of pumpkin pie! OC Parks and Irvine Regional Park will be hosting Orange Friday on Friday, November 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. This family friendly event with have something for everyone to enjoy.

A Santa Cruise will be available for mountain bikers, a Rudolph Ride for the equestrians and a Snowman Stroll for the hikers with a ranger-led interpretive hike at 3 p.m.

Holiday-spirited costumes are encouraged at Orange Friday and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed and most appropriate for each category (like Santa hats for the Santa Cruise or antlers for the Rudolph Ride).

Irvine Park Railroad has opened sales for their annual Christmas Train event! For select nights during November and December you and your family can visit the Irvine Regional Park ride the train and enjoy activities in Santa’s Village located just behind the train station inside of Locomotive Loop. Activities include a Santa moon bounce, cookie decorating, carnival games, coloring corner, story time with Mrs. Claus, and more!
This enchanting night ride through beautiful and historic Irvine Regional Park — to meet and have your picture taken with Santa Claus — is a very popular event for visitors from across the Southland and beyond, it is required that you purchase your tickets online, and in advance for the date and time that you would like to ride the train. If you plan on visiting with family or friends, we suggest that one person be designated to buy your group’s tickets to help ensure that you can ride the train together. Bring your own camera to capture that special moment or family photo with Santa.
Tickets will sell out very quickly as this is a very popular event every year. Advance ticket purchase is required for all nights, and tickets are sold ONLINE ONLY on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will be available for pick up at the will call window on the night that you will be riding the Christmas Train.

Inaugural “Pumpkin Glow” Event in Irvine Community

This Saturday, October 25th, thousands of glowing pumpkins will light up Pavilion Park in Irvine. This new legacy event for residents and the community is also the first of its kind for Orange County. It will feature carved and sculpted pumpkins, creating an amazing, illuminated outdoor pumpkin artwork display. The Pumpkin Glow event is also an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the longest line of carved pumpkins, which currently stands at 1,301.

Pumpkin Glow is a unique, fun, and family-friendly event that will bring the community together for a magical evening.  Refreshments will be available on the Pavilion Park Visitor Terrace, there will be live music playing, as well as expert pumpkin sculptor Scott Gerber who will entertain visitors with live carving demonstrations.

Adding to the excitement of the night will be the Pumpkin Glow sculpture competition, featuring pumpkin-related art. Guests can vote for their favorite sculpture and the top three creations will be awarded prizes.
