Hoot N’ Howling Carbon Canyon Night Hike

Come see Carbon Canyon Regional Park in a completely different setting – in the dark! OC Parks’ annual fall/winter night hikes are here again. Park Rangers will lead a hike to the Redwood Grove highlighting the natural wonders of the park only seen at night. Hoot ‘N Howling Night Hike will feature many fun activities, including hot cocoa and cookies, a live animal presentation by the Nature of Wildworks, a hike through the wilderness area.

Aliso Yoga Hike

Stretch your mind and body on this 2.4-mile hike with a yoga twist over steep and uneven terrain (100-ft. elevation gain) led by Laguna Canyon Foundation volunteers.

Event and parking are both free. Parking is street parking between Coastal Oak and Madia (22100 region of Canyon Vistas). Wood Canyon Trail starts as a paved sidewalk between a neighborhood park and tree-lined easement, then becomes dirt trail into the canyon. Hike leaders and participants will meet at the end of the paved sidewalk, entering the canyon.

Laguna Coast Family Hike

Come and enjoy an easy, 2.5-mile family hike over moderate but uneven terrain (45-ft. elevation gain). Starting at the James Dilley Preserve, we will hike one of the most diverse areas of the park to Barbara’s Lake and back. Hike is led by Laguna Canyon Foundation naturalist volunteers.

Long Distance Laguna Coast Hike

Explore the beauty and diversity of Willow Canyon, Bommer Ridge and Emerald Canyon in the backcountry of the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. This will be a strenuous, 7.2-mile hike (650-ft. elevation gain) over rocky, steep, and uneven terrain. The hike goes through sycamore and oak woodlands, coastal sage scrub, and along ridges with beautiful vistas. Participants should be fit and able to hike long distances.

Orange Friday – Irvine Regional Park

Orange Friday - Irvine Regional Park

On the Friday after Thanksgiving you don’t have to go on a shopping marathon to burn off that extra piece of pumpkin pie! OC Parks and Irvine Regional Park will be hosting Orange Friday on Friday, November 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. This family friendly event with have something for everyone to enjoy.

A Santa Cruise will be available for mountain bikers, a Rudolph Ride for the equestrians and a Snowman Stroll for the hikers with a ranger-led interpretive hike at 3 p.m.

Holiday-spirited costumes are encouraged at Orange Friday and prizes will be awarded to the best dressed and most appropriate for each category (like Santa hats for the Santa Cruise or antlers for the Rudolph Ride).

If you’re planning to attend, be sure to share this event with your family and friends using the hashtag #OCOrangeFriday in your social media posts.  OC Parks and Irvine Regional Park will pick their favorite post for a special prize!
